The sole purpose of PattyCakes Competitions is to gather talented pastry artisans to showcase their creativity and cultivate business growth.

WHY I BAKE
It all began with my grandfather who baked great gingerbread cakes when I was a little girl. I watched and handed him the ingredients. I currently bake and donate cakes to orphanages, prison ministries and recovery centers, shelters, nursing homes, and battered women & children homes. I also give cake competitions that inspire cake artisans to grow and become competitive in the industry.  I have the best job in the world. I am meeting people who share my passion for life, learning, baking, and growing as a person. I love everything about baking and the fascination with what you can do with a few simple ingredients.

 Mission Statement

PattyCakes Competitions was conceptualized in 2004, to cultivate enhance and professionally develop  the talents of cake artisans with their various styles and designs and to provide them  with the necessary tools in order to fulfill their personal vision.

About Patty Green

Patty is a Temple University trained social worker and mother of two sons who received her first taste of event planning as a child as she assisted her late parents, a Delta and a Kappa, with their sorority and fraternity social functions. Patty’s mother was a school teacher (Masters of Sociology) and her father an Army Captain, Professor of Engineering and Technology, and the president of the Northwest Branch of the NAACP, Phila. PA., allowed Patty in her teenage years to work in diverse areas. Her grandfather, the late Bishop E.L Hickman, AME church, also played an integral part of inspiring Patty as she would attend large banquets and grand gatherings with him. In addition he was an awesome baker.

In 1989, she was named seminar/facility coordinator at IBM. Soon after, she single handedly formed Nile Productions and became well known throughout Philadelphia as a leading event planner. Her events served numerous charities such as, Life on Life Recovery Aids House for Women, The Right Foundation Disease Control, Teen Challenge & Men’s Ministry Recovery Home, just to mention a few. Patty was also known for her Christian Women’s Fellowship events as she brought spiritual support to women of all denominations.

From 1999 to 2001, Patty founded along with co-founder Tim Barksdale and operated Revelations Gospel Nite Club which became the fastest growing and most well attended club of its kind in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Furthermore, Patty, herself, realized her love for baking after watching her grandfather bake gingerbread cakes for family and his ministerial staff. Now as the proprietress of PattyCakes Competitions, Patty regularly bakes and donates cakes for charitable organizations. In 2012, Patty is soon to become owner of PattyCakes Palace, a non-profit organization which promises to promote a healthier  and happier way of life for underserved individuals and families

The Chefs King Feast January 8, 2012

On  Sunday, January 8, 2012 the 83rd Birthday of Dr. Martin  Luther King, Jr. began with a kick-off event entitled the Chefs King Feast. Patty Green, founder  of PattyCakes – R –Poppin collaborated with the King Center towards the 26th Anniversary celebration  of the National King Holiday by  serving as the coordinator and providing the selection of chefs as well as the  necessary tasting’s for the event. The  Chefs King Feast featured local chefs preparing their favorite dishes.

In  celebration of King.Week.2012, we  were so excited as we collaborated with PattyCakes -R- Poppin’s consortium of  chefs and bakers for the presentation of this magnificent event. From  collard  greens, smoked turkey to sweet potato soufflé and international cuisine dishes,  we enjoyed the most scrumptious Sunday meal in the heart of the King Historic District. The Chefs King Feast allowed the community to break bread together  and included was a special musical tribute. with inspirational songs of praise.  With the showcase of local chefs presenting their finest cuisine, the event was  a treat for chefs, performing artists and the community alike. Ms. Green’s hard work and dedication in the field as a pastry-cook  and event planner is noteworthy, and the celebration would not have been  fulfilled without her presence and participation in this historic  event.

Hank Stewart’s 4th Annual “Hot Chocolate Affair ” November 12, 2011

Hank Stewart’s 4th Annual Hot Chocolate Affair at Porter Sanford was an evening to be remembered. So many flavors of chocolate were in a packed house. The Chocolatiers made their best and the aroma filled our senses with it’s richness; you could taste of it before it found it’s place on your tongue. Chocolate was the flavor and you knew it. Hank Stewart’s “Hot Chocolate Affair” will definitely be the talk of the town for weeks to come. I hope to see you next year, I’m sure “You need a little bit of chocolate!

Certificate of Appreciation Ceremony Awarded by Patty Green

I have found after coordinating events for over twenty years, that dedicated people are hard to find.A friend sent me this statement  a few years ago and I stand by it whether in frienship or business: A true friend knows your weaknesses but shows you your strengths; feels your fears but fortifies your faith; sees your anxieties but frees your spirit; recognizes your disabilities but emphasizes your possibilities. I did not know when bringing my competitions to Georgia that I would meet some very special people like those I left in Philadelphia. It is a pleasure to give honor to the outstanding people who see the vision and have endured with me. Here is a peek at a few of those who were awarded certificates! Those who were unable to attend  or did not get their certificate will receive it  by mail!  Thank you all!!!
